A first contact took place between the negotiating delegation in Washington and President of the Republic Joseph Aoun.
The delegation explained that the negotiations are proceeding on two tracks: the first is military, concerning a ceasefire, the withdrawal of the Israeli army, the release of prisoners, the return of displaced persons to their villages, and reconstruction.
As for the second track, it is political and focuses on extending state authority, disarming Hezbollah, a permanent cessation of hostilities, or an agreement to end the war, or a security agreement with enhanced arrangements on the borders.
Lebanon is seeking practical arrangements to solidify the ceasefire and prevent attacks on civilian facilities and civilians, while the American side is understanding of the proposed Lebanese viewpoint.
There is a unified Lebanese position encompassing the pillars of the state, and a ceasefire opens the door fully for Lebanon to commit to its obligations.
The delegation confirmed that the atmosphere within the negotiations is good, but as of now, nothing is specific regarding the date, location, and agenda of the new session.
