Health Ministry Confirms Full Hospital Coverage for Beirut Port Explosion Victim

Issued by the media office at the Ministry of Public Health, a statement confirmed that "the ministry is securing full hospital coverage for Lara Haik, the victim of the Beirut port explosion who suffers from a continuous coma, since her injury in the 2020 blast.

Additionally, Minister Dr. Rakan Nassar Din signed last year on all dues for the 2025 expenses submitted by the treating hospital, and will renew his signature this year upon submission of the hospital’s costs for 2026 to the ministry.

The strongest confirmation of this is the gratitude expressed by Lara’s mother, Mrs. Najwa Haik, in a radio interview, directed toward the Ministry of Public Health for its ongoing concern.

The statement also expressed surprise at "misleading and damaging information circulating about the ministry not ensuring continuity of coverage," affirming that "the approach taken does not differentiate between one sick citizen and another, and this is proven through tangible actions.

The statement added: "Following directives from Minister Dr. Rakan Nassar Din, all surgical procedures related to explosion injuries that injured victims require are fully covered at 100 percent by the ministry's funds."
