The Israeli army reported on Tuesday that an armed individual was killed after infiltrating the northern border and opening fire on Israeli forces in the Ras Rummim area.
According to the army's statement and its radio broadcast, the attacker successfully crossed the border before firing at an Israeli military unit conducting field operations.
Israeli forces immediately responded to the gunfire and neutralized the assailant at the scene, with no injuries reported among the soldiers.
The statement confirmed that the incident remains under investigation, noting that the attacker was armed with a rifle and a knife and was killed following a direct confrontation near the border fence.
The army added that additional forces are currently conducting extensive sweeps and searches in the area, supported by Israeli Air Force aircraft, while coordination continues with local authorities along the northern border.
