Jumblatt: The Crisis Will Not End Until the Iranian Regime Falls

Lebanese Forces Party leader Suleiman Frangieh stated that the current regional crisis will only end with the fall of the Iranian regime or a fundamental change in its behavior.

Frangieh said in an interview via "Sky News Arabic," that the current regional crisis will not end unless there is "the fall of the Iranian regime or, at minimum, a change in its behavior and influence."

He argued that Tehran has "exported its revolution and harmed nearly all countries in the region" over the past 40 years of abnormal conditions. He questioned whether the United States could end the war without a comprehensive resolution to the Iranian nuclear file and the Hormuz Strait crisis.

He added that the only viable solution for Tehran lies in "returning to its borders," stressing that what the region is experiencing today is not a passing crisis but a painful transition leading to a new reality.

Regarding regional relations, Frangieh anticipated a return of Lebanese-Gulf ties to their former state, praising the United Arab Emirates and describing it as "one of the best countries in the region."

On another front, Frangieh stressed that "there is no place for Hezbollah's weapons in Lebanon's future," pointing out that this arsenal is the main problem, alongside crises caused by a corrupt political class.

He said: "When decision-making power returns to the Lebanese state, we must conduct a comprehensive review of past security gaps." He underscored that Hezbollah now stands in a significantly weakened position and that the issue of disarmament is much closer to resolution.

He clarified that military confrontation with the party has led to increased Israeli control over Lebanese territory, affirming that decisions on war, peace, and national defense must rest solely with the state.

On the Syrian issue, Frangieh ruled out any Syrian military intervention in Lebanon except upon a formal request from the Lebanese government, calling for the demarcation of borders between the two countries and welcoming what he described as the Syrian president Ahmad al-Sharaa’s "state-based logic."

He urged the need for lasting stability along Lebanon’s southern border, noting that concluding peace with Israel remains "premature" due to multiple linked issues, foremost among them the restoration of borders.
