National Social Security Fund Director General Muhammad Karki announced the Nabatieh office will reopen tomorrow, restoring health and social services amid ongoing bank closures in the area.
The National Social Security Fund’s Directorate of Public Relations issued a statement confirming that the Fund’s Nabatieh office will resume operations tomorrow. The decision follows the director general’s commitment—made less than a week ago upon restarting services at the Tyre and Tebnine offices—to reinstate full service coverage across southern Lebanon, beginning with Nabatieh.
Karki emphasized that residents of southern Lebanon, who remained on their land or returned to their towns and villages despite extensive damage and harsh conditions, deserve full access to available services. To ensure beneficiaries receive their health and social entitlements without being forced to travel to other regions, the Fund is reactivating its local offices in tandem with population return.
Starting tomorrow, the Nabatieh office will gradually resume operations, accepting health-related applications, hospital approval requests, and social investigations. This step aims to alleviate administrative burdens on residents of Nabatieh, its district, and neighboring areas.
Collection of social security contributions will remain suspended at the Nabatieh office due to the continued closure of banks in the region. However, contributors may still pay their dues at any other Fund office nationwide until local banks reopen in Nabatieh.
Karki stated that this operational approach aligns with the state’s official policy of supporting the return of displaced citizens to their cities and villages. He described the move as a practical expression of the high sense of responsibility held by both the Fund’s administration and staff in managing successive crises affecting Lebanon since 2019—and of their steadfast support for all Lebanese citizens, with particular attention to southern communities.
