Lebanese Agriculture Minister Discusses Agricultural Cooperation with Chinese Ambassador

Minister of Agriculture Nizar Hani held a working meeting at the invitation of the Ambassador of the People's Republic of China to Lebanon, Mr. Qian Mingjian. The meeting focused on following up on the progress of agricultural cooperation between the two countries and reviewing existing joint projects along with prospects for their development in the upcoming phase.

The meeting provided an opportunity to assess the progress made in finalizing the agricultural cooperation agreement between the Lebanese Ministry of Agriculture and the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs of the People's Republic of China. This agreement aims to strengthen the institutional framework of the bilateral partnership and open new avenues for collaboration in agricultural scientific research, capacity building, expertise exchange, transfer of modern agricultural technologies, and support for sustainable rural development.

Discussions also covered the implementation steps related to joint projects, particularly the agricultural drones project funded by the Chinese side. This project represents an advanced model of technical cooperation between the two countries. It has contributed to introducing modern technologies into the Lebanese agricultural sector by supporting pest control operations, enhancing monitoring and follow-up capabilities for natural resources, and improving agricultural management efficiency to meet the requirements of sustainable development and food security.

Both parties emphasized the importance of building on the positive outcomes achieved by the joint initiatives over recent years. They agreed on expanding cooperation fields to include additional programs and projects that support the development of Lebanon's agricultural sector and strengthen its ability to face economic, environmental, and climatic challenges.

Minister Hani expressed his appreciation for the support provided by the People's Republic of China to Lebanon, particularly to the agricultural sector. He praised the active role played by Ambassador Qian Mingjian in consolidating and developing bilateral relations. He also confirmed the Ministry of Agriculture's aspiration to enhance agricultural, technical, and investment cooperation with China to achieve mutual interests and contribute to supporting farmers and realizing sustainable and inclusive agricultural development.

This meeting is part of the growing relations between Lebanon and China and the joint efforts aimed at strengthening developmental partnerships and exchanging expertise and modern technologies to serve the goals of food security and sustainable rural development.
