Lebanese Embassies Begin Implementing Biometric Fingerprint System
Lebanon's Ministry of Foreign Affairs has started equipping embassies abroad with biometric fingerprint systems to issue biometric passports directly at diplomatic missions.

As part of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Emigrants' plan to enhance consular services and in coordination with the General Directorate of General Security, the ministry has begun equipping Lebanese diplomatic and consular missions abroad with the necessary equipment and systems to implement biometric fingerprint services for issuing biometric passports directly at embassies and consulates.
The initial phase of the project commenced at the Lebanese Embassy in the State of Kuwait, which has become the first Lebanese diplomatic mission abroad to adopt this system. The preparation of other missions will continue sequentially according to a specified timetable, enabling Lebanese citizens residing abroad to complete their transactions easily and quickly without needing to travel to Lebanon to complete biometric fingerprint procedures.
This project is part of the ministry's efforts to simplify procedures, promote digital transformation, and improve the quality of consular services, aligning with the highest standards of security and technology in issuing travel documents.
The ministry urges citizens to follow announcements from Lebanese embassies and consulates to learn about the start dates for this system at each mission and the required procedures and documents for submitting biometric passport applications.
This initiative confirms the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Emigrants' commitment to continuously developing consular work and providing more efficient and accessible services to Lebanese expatriates.
