The Lebanese University Hourly Contract Faculty Committee: Positive Promises Cannot Be a Substitute
The Lebanese University hourly contract faculty committee stated that a delegation met with Prime Minister Nouf Salam, discussing the pending issue of faculty full-time status and confirming the need to finalize the matter. The prime minister pledged to place the file on the cabinet agenda for approval in September.

The Lebanese University hourly contract faculty committee announced that "a delegation from it met with Prime Minister Nouaf Salam, and the file on full-time status for contract faculty and its stages of follow-up were presented, with emphasis on the necessity of finally concluding this long-awaited file."
In a statement, it noted that "President Salam promised to place the full-time status file on the cabinet's agenda as a preparatory step toward its approval, to be discussed in a session on September 3 or 10."
The committee pointed out that "while appreciating this commitment and following this path seriously, it affirms in contrast that the sole criterion for ending the movement is the issuance and formal adoption of the full-time status decision; promises, no matter how positive, cannot substitute for the awaited decision. Therefore, the committee reiterates that the movement continues, and the strike decision remains in effect until full-time status is approved, in defense of faculty rights and the regularity of academic and administrative operations at the Lebanese University. The wait has been too long—now is the time to conclude this file. We continue striking until full-time status is granted."
