Ministry of Environment Launches Training Courses for Municipalities with UN Support

The Ministry of Environment, in partnership with the United Nations Development Programme, launched the first training courses for municipalities under the EU-funded "Recycling" project, with participation from over 120 representatives of municipalities in Mount Lebanon and Beqaa.

These courses focused on the practical application of the cost recovery law for solid waste management, clarifying roles and responsibilities, discussing field challenges, and enhancing municipal capacities to deliver more efficient and sustainable services.

The sessions also served as a platform for exchanging experiences and discussing practical solutions, with emphasis on source separation, reuse, and recycling as key elements in integrated waste management and the transition toward a circular economy.

These initial courses in Mount Lebanon and Beqaa are part of a broader training program that will include municipalities across all Lebanese regions, supporting local governments in transitioning to the practical implementation of the new framework.
