Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf, Speaker of the Iranian Parliament, affirmed in a phone conversation with Nabih Berri, Speaker of the Lebanese Parliament, that ending the war in Lebanon along with preserving the country's sovereignty and territorial unity is a key element of the first clause of the Islamabad understanding between Iran and the United States.

Qalibaf stated that their objective is to halt the war in Lebanon, facilitate the return of displaced persons to their homes, end the occupation, and ensure the withdrawal of the Zionist entity from Lebanese lands. He emphasized that these matters are being pursued with full seriousness. He also noted that during negotiations in Switzerland, following a serious indication by the Iranian delegation regarding violations of this clause, it was decided to form a "Conflict Control Unit" comprising Iran, the United States, and Lebanon, tasked with monitoring the implementation of this clause in Lebanon.

In response, Berri expressed appreciation for Iran's stance and its negotiating delegation, stating that the developments in Switzerland serve the interests of the Lebanese people. However, he warned that the Zionist enemy is attempting to circumvent the issue of restoring Lebanon's sovereignty and territorial unity within the framework of the Islamabad understanding by other means.

Berri added that the Washington understanding between Lebanon and Israel is a conspiracy and a sedition, quoting Imam Ali (peace be upon him): "Sedition is worse than killing."

At the conclusion of the call, both parties confirmed the necessity of convening a meeting of the "Conflict Control Unit" as soon as possible to manage and end the war in Lebanon.
