UNIFIL provided 807 hygiene kits to families in six southern Lebanese municipalities, benefiting approximately 4,035 people amid ongoing regional instability.

The United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) issued a statement regarding its ongoing support for local communities in southern Lebanon.
As part of its continuous assistance to communities playing a crucial role in maintaining stability in the region, UNIFIL distributed 807 hygiene kits to families across six municipalities within its operational area, reaching about 4,035 individuals.
The initiative was initially designed to aid families who remained in their villages during the conflict, many of whom had no alternative. With residents gradually returning to their homes, the aid now also extends to the most vulnerable returning families.
The distribution covered the municipalities of Maarakeh, Tayr Falsay, Tura, Halloussiyeh, Yanouh, and Jannata. Each kit contains basic hygiene and sanitation supplies sufficient for a family of five for approximately one month, contributing to improved health conditions and reducing the risk of disease.
Highlighting UNIFIL’s ongoing commitment to the people of southern Lebanon, the Head of Mission and Force Commander, Major General Diodato Abagnara, stated: "While many communities across southern Lebanon continue to face uncertainty and the daily impact of ongoing hostilities, UNIFIL remains dedicated to standing with local residents and supporting efforts to preserve their dignity and resilience."
The contents of the kits were adjusted following consultations with local women from the beneficiary communities.

Major General Abagnara noted: "Although these kits are based on standard models approved by international donors, their contents were adapted after consulting with the women beneficiaries from the local communities, as they best understand their needs."
UNIFIL also commended the efforts of municipalities and local authorities that persist in serving their communities despite limited resources and challenging circumstances.
Speaking about the broader significance of this initiative, Major General Abagnara said: "Above all, this is an investment in the mutual trust that UNIFIL and the people of southern Lebanon have built over the years."
He added: "Trust remains the foundation of everything we strive to achieve together—stability, security, and a better future for coming generations."
Through projects like this, UNIFIL continues to support local communities and promote stability in southern Lebanon. In line with its mandate under United Nations Security Council Resolution 1701, the mission works closely with the Lebanese Armed Forces, local authorities, and residents to help create the conditions necessary for lasting security and stability in the south.
