This occurred while the panel was talking about President Donald Trump’s absence from the wedding festivities alongside Bettina Anderson.

The segment started with Joy Behar making a joke about President Trump’s fondness for fast food, suggesting he might have attended the wedding if it was held at McDonald’s. Griffin then mentioned she had recently discussed the topic on CNN and expressed her view that parents should make an effort to attend such occasions.

During her remarks, Griffin mistakenly said, “A parent should try to never miss their child’s funeral,” instead of “wedding.” The audience reacted audibly with gasps, and co-host Sara Haines appeared shocked, covering her mouth. Griffin quickly corrected herself, saying, “Or… I’m sorry, oh God, wedding!”

She attributed the verbal error to fatigue from caring for her three-month-old son, Justin Griffin, born in February. After correcting herself, she continued to stress that parents should try to be present at their children’s weddings when possible and suggested that President Trump might have avoided criticism had he attended.

Adding levity to the discussion, Joy Behar referenced Donald Trump Jr.’s prior marriage to Vanessa Trump, quipping, “He can go to the next one.”

President Trump had earlier addressed his absence on Truth Social, offering congratulations to the couple while explaining he needed to remain in Washington during an important period.
