Barack Obama Jokes About Larry David in HBO Sketch Series
Barack Obama humorously described working with Larry David as more difficult than negotiating with global leaders in a teaser for their HBO series.

A teaser for the HBO sketch comedy series Larry and the Pursuit of Unhappiness features Barack Obama joking about the challenges of working with comedian Larry David. Obama remarked that collaborating with David was harder than negotiating with some of the world’s toughest leaders.
The clip, which pairs Obama with the famously irritable “Curb Your Enthusiasm” star, quickly attracted attention. Obama is an executive producer on the series through Higher Ground Productions, the company he co-founded with Michelle Obama.
Barack Obama’s Cameo Highlights His Banter with Larry David
In the series, Obama engages in candid dialogue with David, comparing their interactions to difficult discussions with powerful global figures. Although they do not regularly communicate, their exchanges are consistently challenging.
David interrupts the conversation by asking Obama to be his emergency contact, suggesting that having the former president’s name would add weight and expedite medical responses. Obama responds with apparent frustration, questioning if anyone actually likes David before answering, “The answer is no, Larry.”
When David suggests asking Michelle Obama instead, Obama replies dryly, “Good luck with that,” and then tells viewers, “You see what I’m dealing with here? Impossible.”
David shared details of this interaction during an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live! while promoting the HBO sketch series. He noted that Obama’s production company invited him to participate, with the former president making a cameo appearance.
