A video showing a young fan requesting a Taylor Swift song from her neighbor has attracted over 3 million views on TikTok and led to an unexpected response from the singer herself.

The story began when 8-year-old Madeline from Ohio heard her neighbor playing guitar outside his house and wanted to ask him to play “Love Story.” Too shy to approach him directly, she enlisted her mother’s help to send a handwritten note on a paper airplane over the fence.

The neighbor, musician Ethan Hayes, did not initially notice the paper airplane until Madeline’s stepfather alerted him from a kitchen window. After finding the note, Hayes agreed to play the song despite not recalling all the lyrics perfectly. He performed it from his porch while Madeline’s mother recorded the moment.

Following the upload of the video to TikTok, it quickly gained widespread attention, with social media users praising the wholesome interaction. Hayes reportedly gained thousands of new followers as a result of the viral clip.

Subsequently, Hayes revealed that Taylor Swift’s team reached out to him via TikTok after the singer saw the video. He was advised to keep quiet until a package arrived, which he initially assumed would contain a signed poster or small keepsake.

Instead, Hayes received signed guitars and handwritten notes from Swift. Madeline was also sent a signed guitar and a personal letter, adding to the emotional impact for the family. When asked what she would say to Swift, Madeline simply replied, “Thank you.”
