Death Drug: Husband Kills Wife Through Food and Drink

The curtain has fallen on one of the sensational cases, as a husband was sentenced to life imprisonment after being convicted of killing his wife by placing medical drugs in her food and drink at spaced intervals until her health deteriorated and she breathed her last.

The verdict was issued by the Minya Felony Court in the case widely known in the media as the killing of a mechanical engineer within the jurisdiction of New Minya District.

Case documents indicate that the defendant was referred to criminal trial after being accused of premeditated intentional murder of his wife, which resulted in her death due to deteriorating health conditions.

According to the referral decision, the defendant exploited his wife's suffering from illness and began since September 2025 to slip medical drugs into her food and drink without any therapeutic justification or medical need requiring their consumption.

Investigations clarified that the victim's continued consumption of those drugs led to a gradual deterioration of her health condition, weakening of the heart muscle, culminating in acute circulatory failure.

The autopsy report confirmed that complications resulting from those drugs were the cause of death; this formed the basis upon which the Public Prosecution directed the charge of premeditated intentional murder against the defendant.

After hearing the case and defense and prosecution arguments, the court sentenced the defendant to life imprisonment, while referring the civil lawsuit to the competent court for adjudication.
