A Giza criminal court sentenced a former Egyptian judge to life imprisonment for fatally shooting his ex-wife in 6th of October City.

A criminal court in Giza, Egypt, handed down a life sentence to a former judge convicted of murdering his ex-wife by shooting her on a street in 6th of October City.
During the trial sessions, the defendant admitted to the killing, attributing his actions to a series of disputes and conflicts with the victim. He claimed that she had entered into unofficial marriages with others while still legally bound to him and that she had obtained 2.5 million Egyptian pounds from him. He also stated that she prevented him from seeing their daughters.
The defendant further noted that the victim had filed several lawsuits against him, including a maintenance case that resulted in a one-month prison sentence, and had lodged complaints with the judicial inspection authorities that negatively impacted his professional career.
In its closing argument, the public prosecution emphasized that the incident was not a momentary act of anger but a fully formed crime committed with premeditation and planning. Investigations confirmed that the accused had been monitoring his ex-wife’s movements for several days prior to carrying out the shooting.
Security forces received a report of gunfire at the tourist walkway in 6th of October City and arrived at the scene to find the victim dead from a gunshot wound. The police arrested the suspect and seized the weapon used in the crime.
The public prosecution charged the defendant with intentional murder with premeditation and planning, and the criminal court issued the final verdict sentencing him to life imprisonment.
