Four Young Iraqis Die by Suicide in Baghdad on Same Day Using Similar Method
Four young individuals in Baghdad ended their lives by hanging on the same day, prompting investigations into the incidents.

On Monday, Baghdad witnessed four separate suicide cases involving young males and females, all of whom used the same method to take their own lives. The oldest among them was 24 years old.
The four victims, two females and two males born in 2002, 2008, 2010, and 2012, respectively, died by hanging themselves inside their homes for various reasons. Authorities have launched investigations into the circumstances surrounding these deaths.
According to Iraqi media reports, one of the victims was a 24-year-old woman who hanged herself using a women's shawl tied to a ceiling fan in her home located in the Tha'alabah area. Initial information suggests she was suffering from psychological pressures that led to this tragic decision.
The second incident occurred in the Al-Amin Second area, where an 18-year-old girl ended her life by hanging herself with a shawl attached to her bedroom ceiling. Reports indicate that her suicide was linked to her failure to qualify for the official exams.
In the Al-Qahira district, a 16-year-old boy hanged himself using a rope tied to a ceiling fan, reportedly due to mental health issues, according to preliminary data.
The fourth case involved a 14-year-old boy who also died by hanging himself with a rope tied to the ceiling in his family home.
Iraq has experienced a rise in suicide cases over recent years, with official statistics recording hundreds of incidents annually across various regions. These cases often receive coverage on social media platforms and daily newspapers intermittently.
Official reports state that the most common methods of suicide include hanging, self-immolation, and the use of firearms, among other means.
Suicide causes vary and include psychological factors, social, familial, and economic reasons, as well as issues related to drug use and other mind-altering substances.
Despite the occurrence of suicide cases from time to time, some incidents go unreported, possibly due to cultural and religious norms, as well as the social stigma associated with suicide in Iraqi society.
