French Film to Adapt New Book on Louvre Heist
A new book documenting the Louvre Museum theft will be adapted into a feature film by French director Romain Gavras.

A recently published book titled "A Grab at the Louvre," authored by three French journalists, chronicles the theft at the Louvre Museum. French director Romain Gavras is set to transform this work into a full-length feature film.
The book's publisher, Flammarion, stated that the journalists "relied on confidential documents, compelling reports, and informed sources on the case, granting them unprecedented access to materials that offer an intriguing behind-the-scenes look at this active investigation."
The director draws inspiration for his film from the investigative book, which was released in French bookstores on Wednesday. The narrative centers on the museum robbery during which thieves made off with jewelry valued at up to 100 million dollars.
According to the magazine Le Film Français, "the film project is currently in development, but neither its title nor its cast has been announced."
Flammarion announced the sale of film rights based on the book about the famous Louvre heist that occurred on October 19, 2025, to the production company Iconoclast. Additionally, a British producer acquired the rights to develop a documentary series inspired by the same book.
Both the film and the documentary series will add to the collection of crime and art theft films, a genre that has produced numerous books and suspenseful movies.
The 224-page book was written by three journalists: Jean-Michel de Couzé, Jérémy Fam Lee, and Nicolas Torrent, affiliated with Le Parisien, Le Monde, and Paris Match respectively.
The French newspaper Le Monde commented, "The Louvre Museum theft caused a global shock and sparked a security crisis within the renowned museum, ultimately leading to the dismissal of its director, Laurence de Car."
It added, "Seven months into the investigation, despite the arrest of the main suspects, the jewelry has not been recovered, and authorities have been unable to retrieve these royal treasures before the film's premiere."
