Oreo, the world-renowned cookie brand, revealed an exclusive partnership with the South Korean K-pop group BTS to launch a limited edition cookie featuring the band's identity and the globally recognized biscuit flavor.

The new product draws inspiration from "Hotteok," a popular Korean pancake known for its sweet aroma that fills the streets of Seoul. Hotteok consists of dough filled with brown sugar and cinnamon, served hot.

Jin, a member of BTS, explained that the group conveyed to Oreo what this flavor means to them, stating, "The cookie really tastes a lot like Hotteok."

Norberto Shackelin, Vice President of Research and Development at Mondelēz International, Oreo’s parent company, confirmed that adapting the Hotteok flavor into an Oreo cookie was a genuine technical challenge. However, the band members’ strict creative vision inspired the R&D teams to push beyond conventional boundaries.

The cookies are distinguished by a deep purple color, which was deliberately chosen. Since 2016, this shade has been part of BTS’s visual identity, originating when member V told fans, "I purple you," a phrase that fans have since adopted as a lasting symbol.

The packaging features 13 different embossed designs on the cookies, including the names of the members, the band’s light stick, and the famous "finger heart" symbol. Additionally, three cookies together form a secret message intended for fans.

Because the designs are randomly distributed across packages, collecting the full set will require purchasing multiple boxes.

Pre-orders will begin on June 1, 2026, at 9 a.m. Eastern Time via Oreo’s official website, simultaneously with pre-orders available to Canadian consumers through Amazon Canada. The product will then be released in over 80 countries starting June 8, 2026, as a limited-quantity edition.

BTS fans, known as ARMY, can also participate in a contest by scanning a QR code on the packaging and submitting a digital message to the band. Prizes include attendance at a BTS concert.

This collaboration marks BTS’s first-ever partnership with a global snack brand.
