Russia Seizes 55 kg of Natural Human Hair from Passenger Arriving from Dubai
Russian customs officials at Pulkovo International Airport in St. Petersburg seized 55 kilograms of natural human hair hidden in a traveler's luggage arriving from Dubai.

Announced the Federal Customs Service of Russia that customs officers at Pulkovo International Airport in St. Petersburg seized a large quantity of natural human hair amounting to 55 kilograms.
The authorities clarified that this quantity was concealed in the luggage of a passenger arriving from Dubai.
A statement from the Federal Customs Service read: "Customs authorities at Pulkovo Airport managed to detect 55 kilograms of natural hair, valued at over 2.3 million rubles, inside the luggage of a woman from St. Petersburg, arriving from Dubai."
The agency revealed details of the seizure, noting that the passenger was carrying 15 plastic bags filled with hair clippings. The traveler justified carrying such a large amount, claiming she was visiting a friend who asked her to transport these shipments to Russia, initially asserting they were "bioprotein" (artificial) hair.
The passenger added that this large quantity was exclusively for "personal use." However, customs officers doubted this claim due to the sheer volume, which could not possibly be considered personal goods, and decided to refer the case for laboratory testing.
Expert analysis confirmed that the seized materials were indeed clippings of natural human hair from women.
Based on these facts, customs authorities opened an administrative violation case against the passenger for "failure to declare goods."
It should be noted that this offense, as stipulated in Russian law, may result in a financial fine up to twice the value of the seized goods, with the possibility of complete confiscation.
