A family outing in southern Turkey turned into a tragic scene when a young woman lost her life after being shot by a man who refused to accept her repeated rejection of his friendship. The incident occurred in the town of Kozan, located in Adana province, and has sparked widespread shock and anger on social media platforms.

The shooting incident details

Sifva Dinler, aged 22, was spending time with her sister and a female friend in a designated picnic area when a 42-year-old man approached them. According to local reports, the man had previously proposed a relationship or friendship, which Dinler had already declined. He renewed his request during this encounter, but she maintained her stance and rejected him again.

Facing this refusal, the man opened fire on Dinler in the middle of the park, directly in front of her companions and other visitors present at the site. She collapsed immediately from her injuries. A security officer who was present in civilian clothes intervened quickly to subdue the suspect. Several park visitors assisted in preventing his escape and restrained him until authorities arrived.

Aftermath and public reaction

Circulating video footage documented the moments following the crime, showing the victim’s sister collapsing near her body while bystanders surrounded the detained suspect. Funeral ceremonies were held for Dinler with large numbers of local residents attending, before she was buried in the cemetery of Kozan town. Turkish authorities continue to complete investigation procedures and take legal measures against the accused.

The crime has brought back to the forefront demands from activists and followers for stricter measures aimed at protecting women from violent crimes, alongside calls to limit the spread of weapons among civilians.
