Chelsea youngster Jessi Dyer suffered a serious injury in his first appearance for the Blues, starting in the team's match against Nottingham Forest, currently underway in the English Premier League.
The young player started for the first time with the Blues in the English Premier League during their match against Nottingham Forest.
After a turbulent start that saw Chelsea fall behind by two goals in the first half-hour, the 18-year-old player suffered a strong collision with Forest defender Zach Abbott.
While both players attempted to execute a cross inside the penalty area, their heads collided painfully before they fell to the ground.
Referee Anthony Taylor awarded a penalty kick in favor of Chelsea after the collision.
The network broadcasting the Premier League matches refused to show a replay of the incident, while the medical team rushed to the players.
Abbott was examined but left the pitch on his own, replaced by Welsh left-back Neco Williams.
On the other side, Dyer received oxygen treatment on the field before being carried off on a stretcher amid warm applause from the crowd.
The tragic injury came at the worst possible time for Dyer, one of the club's academy's most prominent young talents, who had only played a few minutes this season in Chelsea's matches against Hull City and Wrexham in the FA Cup.
It is worth noting that Dyer, an England youth international, is the son of former Crystal Palace midfielder Sean, and joined Chelsea from the London club last summer.
The winger played 29 matches for the Under-21 team this season, scoring 12 goals and providing 4 assists.
