AC Milan winger Rafael Leao has re-emerged as a top transfer target for Saudi club Al-Hilal, with the Portuguese star's future at the San Siro clouded as the current season winds down. The Saudi side is preparing a major financial offer, undeterred by Leao's rejection of a similar proposal last summer when he chose to remain in Europe.
According to Italian newspaper *La Gazzetta*, the relationship between Leao and Milan is nearing its end. Club officials reportedly believe the time is right for a departure in the upcoming transfer window, though no official decision has been made.
Al-Hilal is counting on two specific individuals to tip the scales in their favor this time around. The first is their own head coach, Italian Simone Inzaghi, and the second is Leao's former Milan teammate, Theo Hernandez. Both are seen as key assets in persuading the 25-year-old to embrace a move to the Saudi Pro League.
The primary obstacle remains Leao's release clause, set at a hefty €175 million. This figure is far above his current estimated market value, which *La Gazzetta* places between €50 million and €60 million. The Portuguese international also commands a high net salary starting at €5.5 million per year, which can rise to €7 million with bonuses and incentives, further complicating any potential deal.
While European giants like Manchester United and Barcelona have shown interest, they are not currently considered the frontrunners for his signature. Milan, for its part, appears more open to a sale if a suitable offer arrives, especially after rejecting Middle Eastern bids in previous windows.
The final decision rests with Leao, who has not previously shown strong enthusiasm for a move to the region. He remains under contract with Milan until 2028 and has delivered a solid season, scoring 9 goals and providing 3 assists in 27 Serie A appearances. This form keeps him among the most anticipated names in the upcoming summer transfer market.
