Real Madrid defender Álvaro Carreras commented on the news that reported he was slapped by his teammate Antonio Rüdiger inside the locker room, in his first response without directly denying the incident.
Journalist Miguel Serrano had revealed details of the escalating tension between the German and Spanish players in recent weeks, noting that the situation nearly developed into a physical altercation had it not been contained.

Serrano explained that Rüdiger slapped Carreras during an argument between them, in an incident reflecting the extent of tensions within the team, while simultaneously confirming that no other fights or clashes occurred. He pointed out that Rüdiger did not show any aggression, warning against attempts by some fans to portray the incident as a violent brawl that went beyond a verbal altercation.
Serrano downplayed the incident to avoid any misunderstanding, saying: "He slapped him, and did not punch him," explaining: "Certainly, Rüdiger's words were hurtful, but it was not an aggressive act." He added that what happened was merely a light touch on the cheek, not a punch intended to harm Carreras, stressing that although a verbal altercation occurred, it did not develop into a real fight inside the locker room, but the slap moment was the most noteworthy.
Carreras responded to the news that pointed to the incident without denying it, as well as to rumors about his dispute with coach Álvaro Arbeloa, through a message published on his official account on the "Instagram" platform. The message read: "In recent days, some insinuations and comments have appeared about me, which have no connection to reality. My commitment to this club and the coaches I have worked with has been constant since day one, and will remain so. Since my return, I have always worked with the highest levels of professionalism, respect, and dedication. I have done my utmost to achieve my dream of returning to my home."
Carreras added: "As for the incident with one of my colleagues, it is an individual matter of no importance, and it has already been resolved. My relationship with the entire team is excellent."
