Flamengo could earn up to $3 million from the 2026 World Cup, with 12 players expected to represent their countries.

Up to $3 million (15 million Brazilian reais) could flow into Flamengo's coffers from the 2026 World Cup, driven by the large number of its players expected to feature in the tournament. The Brazilian club stands to gain financially as several of its stars are likely to be called up by their national teams.
ESPN commentator Luiz Carlos Largo revealed that Italy's Carlo Ancelotti, head coach of the Brazilian national team, has already placed seven Flamengo players on his preliminary World Cup list: Léo Pereira, Danilo, Alex Sandro, Lucas Paquetá, Léo Ortiz, Pedro, and Danilo. This underscores the club's strong presence within the Brazilian squad.
The list of potential World Cup participants extends beyond Brazil. Flamengo also boasts other international players, notably the Uruguayan trio of Arrascaeta, Varela, and De La Cruz, along with Ecuador's Plata and Colombia's Carrascal. This brings the total number of players expected to compete in the World Cup to 12.
According to FIFA regulations, clubs receive a daily payment for every player called up to the tournament. The rate is approximately $11,000 per day for the entire duration of the team's participation in the World Cup.
Largo explained that even in the worst-case scenario—where all teams are eliminated in the group stage—Flamengo could receive around $250,000 per player. This calculation leads to the estimated total of nearly $3 million from player participation alone.
This financial windfall represents a significant boost for Flamengo, which has continued to invest in signing international stars in recent years. The club reaps substantial technical, marketing, and financial rewards, solidifying its status as one of South America's biggest clubs.
