Manchester City has identified Enzo Maresca as a leading internal candidate to replace Pep Guardiola should the manager leave this summer.

Manchester City is preparing for a potential change in its coaching staff at the end of the current season, with Enzo Maresca emerging as one of the strongest candidates to take over from Pep Guardiola. The move would come into effect if the Spanish manager decides to leave the club this summer, according to reports.
The club’s leadership has developed a long-term succession strategy for Guardiola, according to the "i Paper." Maresca is viewed as a powerful internal option due to his prior experience within City’s coaching structure and his deep familiarity with the team’s football philosophy.
The same report indicates that Maresca is ready and willing to assume the role this summer, should Guardiola—as many in football circles believe—decide to conclude his illustrious tenure at the Etihad Stadium. Guardiola, who is under contract until 2027, has not yet confirmed whether he will extend his stay beyond the current season, leaving his long-term future at the club uncertain.
Maresca, who previously worked within City’s system before moving into management, is highly regarded by senior club officials. He is considered well-positioned to step in should the position become vacant.
