GTA 6 hits $751M in pre-orders before November launch
Sensor Tower estimates GTA 6 generated $751 million from digital pre-orders, with PlayStation capturing 74% of the total volume ahead of its November 2026 release.

Digital pre-order revenue for "GTA 6" has reached an estimated $751 million weeks before its scheduled November 2026 debut. Analytics firm Sensor Tower reports that approximately 7.71 million units were reserved across PS5 and Xbox Series X|S consoles. These figures highlight the significant anticipation surrounding the upcoming title from Rockstar.
PlayStation dominates reservation share
Data released by Sensor Tower indicates that PlayStation accounted for 74% of all pre-orders, while Xbox Series X|S held the remaining 26%. This distribution reflects a clear preference among consumers to secure the game on Sony’s platform prior to its official market entry.
In terms of specific volumes, 5.74 million copies were ordered via PlayStation devices, generating roughly $559 million. Conversely, Xbox platforms recorded about 1.97 million reservations, contributing nearly $192 million to the total pre-order earnings.
Recent sales surge and historical comparisons
According to Dexerto, the game added more than $100 million in additional pre-order revenue over the past two weeks. This accumulation brings digital sales close to the opening-day performance of other major titles, although calculation methods and timeframes differ.
The current $751 million estimate approaches the global first-day sales of "GTA 5," which exceeded $800 million upon its September 2013 launch. Official numbers from Take-Two Interactive, the parent company of the developer, confirm this earlier milestone.
"GTA 5" also surpassed $1 billion in sales within just three days of its release. However, direct comparisons between the sixth installment's pre-order income and the fifth installment's day-one sales remain imprecise due to varying periods and sales structures.
Official release timeline and data caveats
Sensor Tower’s figures represent unofficial estimates rather than confirmed sales data from Rockstar or Take-Two Interactive. The reported totals include only digital pre-orders and exclude physical copies of the game.
"GTA 6" is set to launch on November 19, 2026, for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. Pre-loading will begin on November 10, as the industry awaits the arrival of a title that has already secured substantial financial commitments before hitting shelves.
