Starting at $2.99 per month, Meta has introduced paid subscription options for Instagram, Facebook, and WhatsApp worldwide. This initiative expands access to features that were previously available only to select users and represents Meta's effort to diversify its revenue beyond advertising.

On May 27, 2026, Meta's head of product, Naomi Gleit, revealed three new subscription tiers under the Plus branding: WhatsApp Plus at $2.99 per month, Instagram Plus at $3.99 per month, and Facebook Plus also at $3.99 per month.

The Instagram and Facebook Plus plans focus primarily on Stories functionality. Subscribers benefit from Stories that remain visible for 48 hours instead of the usual 24, the ability to see who has viewed their Stories, anonymous browsing of others' Stories, sending animated super-reactions, and customizing app icons for Facebook and Messenger. Meta has not yet disclosed the complete list of features included in these plans.

These Plus subscriptions are distinct from Meta Verified, the existing badge and support subscription service priced from $11.99 per month for individuals. Unlike Meta Verified, the Plus plans do not eliminate advertisements. This contrasts with the ad-free Facebook and Instagram option launched in Europe in 2023 to comply with GDPR regulations. The new tiers emphasize cosmetic enhancements and creator tools rather than privacy improvements.

Separately, Meta is trialing an AI-focused subscription series under the Meta AI brand. Two consumer-level plans—Meta One Plus at $7.99 per month and Meta One Premium at $19.99 per month—are undergoing testing in Singapore, Guatemala, and Bolivia starting June 2026. Priced at $7.99, Meta One Plus is positioned as a cost-effective alternative to ChatGPT Plus, which charges $20 per month.

In addition, two professional-level plans—Meta One Essential at $14.99 per month and Meta One Advanced at $49.99 per month—are being tested in Saudi Arabia, Morocco, Thailand, and Bangladesh. These tiers are designed for creators and businesses, offering verification and enhanced reach tools. No testing has been announced for these plans in Europe or the United States.

The Plus subscription rollout is currently live globally, though access is being gradually introduced, so some users may receive the option later than others. The AI subscription plans remain in limited testing with no confirmed date for a broader launch. For most users, the experience remains unchanged unless they opt into a subscription; advertisements continue regardless of subscription status.
