Players from Portugal’s women’s national football team visited the men’s national team camp led by Cristiano Ronaldo before the "Brazil of Europe" delegation departed for the United States to compete in the 2026 World Cup finals.

Videos shared on the official Portuguese national team social media accounts showed the women’s players enthusiastically rushing to take commemorative photos with Ronaldo, reflecting the exceptional status the captain holds both within Portugal and internationally.

Ronaldo did not hesitate to fulfill the players’ requests, posing for numerous pictures with them and greeting them warmly, a gesture that received widespread praise from Portuguese fans on social media platforms.

Details of the 2026 World Cup Format

The 2026 World Cup, hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico, will take place from June 11 to July 19, marking the first tournament featuring 48 national teams.

The competition will include 104 matches over 40 days, following a new system dividing the teams into 12 groups. The top two teams from each group, along with the eight best third-placed teams, will advance to the knockout stages.

Ronaldo’s Record and Portugal’s Group

Cristiano Ronaldo continues to make history with the Portuguese national team, having played 226 international matches and scored 143 goals, holding records in both categories at the national team level.

He is also the only player to have scored in five different World Cup tournaments and aims to achieve a new milestone in the upcoming competition.

Portugal will compete in Group 11 alongside the Democratic Republic of Congo, Uzbekistan, and Colombia during the tournament.
