Erling Haaland secured the winning goal for Norway against Ivory Coast in the round of 32 match, which ended 2-1, marking his first goal in the World Cup knockout stages.

This goal placed Haaland ahead of Ronaldo, who finished his World Cup career without scoring any goals in knockout matches despite playing in eight such games. In contrast, the Norwegian striker scored in his very first elimination match.

Haaland's achievement extends further as he became the first player in 72 years to score in each of his first three World Cup matches. This feat equals a historic record previously accomplished only by Argentine Guillermo Stábile in 1930 and Hungarian Sándor Kocsis in 1954.

Additionally, Ronaldo made history in the current tournament by becoming the first player to score in six different World Cup editions, following his goal in Portugal's 5-0 group stage victory over Uzbekistan.
