World Cup 2026
Princess Ingrid Alexandra greeted Norway's players and embraced Erling Haaland following their victory over Brazil, securing a spot in the World Cup quarterfinals.

Princess Ingrid Alexandra, heir to the Norwegian throne, personally congratulated the national football team after they advanced to the World Cup quarterfinals by defeating Brazil in New Jersey, with Erling Haaland scoring both goals. Accompanied by her brother, Prince Sverre Magnus, the princess surprised the players in the locker room, speaking with each one and embracing Haaland as he celebrated the win with his teammates.
This visit holds particular significance as it marks Princess Ingrid's first official appearance since Crown Princess Mette-Marit underwent a lung transplant. Additionally, Ingrid Alexandra represented her father, Crown Prince Haakon, who canceled his visit due to his wife's surgery.
The princess had also attended Norway’s group stage match against Senegal, becoming a good luck charm for the team, which is participating in the World Cup for the first time in 28 years.
Erling Haaland maintained his outstanding performance in the competition by increasing his goal tally to seven, tying with Lionel Messi and Kylian Mbappé for the top spot in the race for the Golden Boot. Haaland remarked that he often converts the chances he receives into goals, emphasizing his constant focus and patience for the right moment. He also described his scoring ability as a gift from God.
He encouraged young players to take pride in representing Norway’s national team, stating that wearing the national jersey is the greatest source of pride for any player.
Norway is preparing to face England in the quarterfinals, scheduled for Saturday in Miami.
