Lamine Yamal Stands by Spain Despite Anti-Islamic Chants

Lamine Yamal, a young star of the Spanish national football team, expressed his sadness regarding the anti-Islamic chants heard during the friendly match between Egypt and Spain. Despite this, he emphasized that he does not regret his decision to represent Spain instead of Morocco.

Yamal explained that the chants, which occurred during the Egypt-Spain game, were unfortunate and disturbing. However, he clarified that these chants were not directed at a specific people or country but rather reflected the content of the chants themselves. He noted that the incident affected many Muslims both inside and outside Spain.

The young player acknowledged that the chants did not represent the entire fanbase but rather a limited group within the stadium stands. He highlighted that every individual has a different background and upbringing, which influences their behavior.

Addressing speculation about his international future, Yamal confirmed his loyalty to Spain, stating, "I am with Spain. I chose this national team and could have played for either side, but I am happy with my decision and will continue with it." He also identified "La Roja" as one of the leading contenders to win the 2026 World Cup.

Yamal also revealed the players who impressed him the most during the tournament, naming Argentine Lionel Messi, Brazilian Vinicius Junior, and Moroccan Ismael Saibari as standout performers.

The Spanish team advanced to the round of 32 as group leaders and is preparing to face Austria in their next challenge in the 2026 World Cup.
