Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said on Wednesday that Tehran continues close and ongoing communications with mediators to review ideas ensuring the implementation of its proposal to end the war in the Middle East, emphasizing that it still gives diplomacy a chance to succeed.

Araghchi added that the seven-day plan proposed by Iran can be completed in less than a week, if implemented, according to Reuters.

The Iranian minister had previously stated that the proposal allows for the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz upon meeting certain conditions. However, US President Donald Trump rejected it, prompting Qatar to intensify mediation efforts.

In a related development, Reuters reported on Wednesday, citing an official familiar with the negotiations, that Qatari mediators presented Iran with a new draft last Sunday to end the war with the United States and Israel.

The official explained that the draft includes a 7-day timeline for implementing mutual confidence-building steps and addressing concerns from both Tehran and Washington, with an expected Iranian response by the end of the week.

Araghchi's remarks did not clarify whether the ideas being discussed by Tehran with mediators match the new draft mentioned by the official.
