US President Donald Trump revealed early Saturday morning that the United States had executed what he described as "limited strikes" against Iran, while simultaneously affirming that those strikes are "achieving benefit."

Trump told reporters: "We have made significant progress with Iran... As for the Russian-Ukrainian conflict, they are losing 25,000 people per month. We haven't lost anyone in 7 months."

He added: "So I don't think what is happening can be considered a war; we have complete control over the situation. Nevertheless, we are negotiating with the Iranians, and we will see how things turn out in the end."

He continued: "We lost about $3 trillion when it turned out that the Democrats achieved good results in the elections, which is somewhat surprising, but that's how things go. It was related to the fact that we will not allow Iran to possess nuclear weapons; this has always been the top priority."

These statements by Trump came shortly after Iranian reports from several local media outlets indicating strong explosions were heard on Qeshm Island.

The semi-official Tasnim News Agency said initial reports indicate that two missiles hit Qeshm Island, adding that there is no official information regarding potential damages.

The official IRNA news agency had earlier reported that local witnesses said two projectiles hit the Suza area on Qeshm Island in southern Iran, after hearing the sound of an aircraft flying over the island.

Following these reports, the Iranian military announced in a statement broadcast on state television that it shot down a US MQ-9 drone in the airspace of Qeshm.

Axios had previously reported, citing well-informed US sources, that President Trump prefers to give diplomatic efforts with Iran more time.

The sources stated that US Vice President JD Vance personally participated over the past two weeks in indirect talks aimed at reaching a ceasefire agreement and resuming nuclear negotiations with Iran.
