Denmark's Prime Minister Reaffirms Greenland Is Not for Sale Following Trump's Comments
Denmark's Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen reiterated that Greenland is not for sale in response to recent remarks by US President Donald Trump.

Denmark's Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen reaffirmed that "Greenland is not for sale" in response to recent statements made by US President Donald Trump.
Speaking on the sidelines of the NATO summit on Wednesday, Frederiksen said, "I listened to the American president yesterday (Tuesday), and I believe the United States' position on this issue is very clear, unfortunately, and our position has also been clear from the start: Greenland is not for sale."
On Tuesday in Ankara, Trump reiterated that Greenland should be "under the control of the United States," though he repeated this stance without issuing the threats he made earlier in the year.
Earlier this year, Trump had discussed the possibility of controlling the Danish territory, which enjoys self-rule, emphasizing its importance to US national security.
The US president later withdrew his claim to Greenland after weeks of escalation and threats, including the possibility of seizing the Danish island by force.
Talks held in January between Trump and NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg in Davos led to what Trump described as a "framework agreement" regarding Greenland, though he did not disclose details.
Frederiksen stated, "We hope that everyone, including all allies, respects the right of Greenland's inhabitants to self-determination. We are a sovereign state and demand respect for the integrity of our territory and our sovereignty."
