Witnesses in Bandar Abbas, a city in southern Iran, reported hearing a series of explosions early Thursday morning that shook the eastern parts of the city.

Videos circulated on social media platforms purportedly showing the sounds of explosions and flashes lighting up the sky at the time of the incident.

The Fars News Agency stated that at 1:30 a.m., three explosions were heard in the eastern area of Bandar Abbas, noting that the exact location and source of these sounds remain unknown.

The agency also reported that Iran's air defense systems were activated for several minutes coinciding with the explosions, and investigations are underway to determine their origin.

Eyewitnesses described the explosion sounds as resembling surface-to-air missiles, according to the Drop Site website, although no official confirmation has been issued by Iranian authorities.

According to eyewitness accounts, the explosions occurred near the airport and the Behesht Bandar area, with one witness suggesting that the sound of a fighter jet was heard before the blasts.

US-Iran Tensions and Military Actions

On Wednesday, US President Donald Trump expressed that he was unconcerned about the political consequences of the prolonged conflict with Iran, stating that Iranian leaders are mistaken if they believe the November midterm elections will force him to make a deal.

Simultaneously, Reuters cited a US official reporting that the US military intercepted and shot down several Iranian drones that posed threats to US forces and commercial maritime navigation.

The official added that the US military conducted new airstrikes on an Iranian military site that threatened both US forces and commercial shipping in the Strait of Hormuz.
