Intense clashes are ongoing between the Rapid Support Forces and Port Sudan troops around the city of Al-Abiad in North Kordofan, with the Rapid Support Forces claiming control of key areas and a major shift in the dynamics of the conflict.

A Sudanese military source close to the Rapid Support Forces revealed that fierce fighting is taking place between the Rapid Support Forces and Port Sudan troops along the southern and western axes of the city of Al-Abiad in North Kordofan, confirming that recent clashes have led to the liberation of strategic areas such as Qaisan, Al-Karmak, and Um Arada, marking a significant turning point in the nature of the battles around one of the most important cities in Sudan from both military and geographic perspectives.
The source, who preferred anonymity when speaking to "Al-Arabiya News," explained that the focus of the battle is now centered on the vicinity of Al-Abiad, aiming to break through the defenses and launch attacks against Port Sudan forces and their allied units, in order to advance toward the city center. This is because Al-Abiad serves as a strategic hub connecting central Sudan to Darfur region, and has seen a complete siege on Port Sudan forces over recent months.
The source added that the Rapid Support Forces have made progress in certain fronts, including capturing the Al-Iyara neighborhood and securing the southern gateway to Al-Abiad after intense fighting with Port Sudan forces and the Islamic Brigades, emphasizing that the coming hours could bring many surprises, according to his statement.
Earlier, the Rapid Support Forces announced the liberation of the area of "Um Arada" in North Kordofan, located in Sheikan locality, about 15–16 kilometers south of the state capital city of Al-Abiad, delivering a crushing defeat to Port Sudan forces and their affiliated units linked to the Muslim Brotherhood, according to a statement from the forces.
This development followed less than 24 hours after the announcement of the liberation of the strategic city of Al-Karmak, and previously the city of Qaisan—significant battlefield advances and rapid achievements that have placed Port Sudan forces and the Islamic Brigades in a dire situation, confirming, according to a Rapid Support Forces statement, that the forces are determined to liberate all of Sudan.
The statement also confirmed that, during the past few hours, the forces continued advancing across fronts in Kordofan and Blue Nile, penetrating deep into Port Sudan strongholds, successfully neutralizing their defensive capabilities and establishing full control over key vital positions.
