Sudan's Dagalo Signals Readiness for Peace or Humanitarian Truce Initiatives
Sudan's Rapid Support Forces leader Dagalo declares willingness to accept any peace initiative or humanitarian truce to protect Sudanese civilians.

Lieutenant General Abdel Rahim Dagalo, the deputy commander of Sudan's Rapid Support Forces, announced his group's readiness to accept any peace initiative or humanitarian truce aimed at stopping bloodshed among Sudanese citizens.
Dagalo emphasized their commitment to safeguarding the interests of Sudanese people and protecting them from harm, according to statements he made on Sunday evening. In a press release, he reaffirmed the Rapid Support Forces' firm and non-negotiable stance on calls for establishing a civilian democratic government, stressing that "governance must belong solely to the Sudanese people, without any external guardianship."
In a related development, Dagalo openly accused the Islamic Movement in Sudan of obstructing political solutions to the country's crisis. He stated, "The refusal to resolve the Sudanese crisis is a repeated and systematic action by the Islamists."
He added that their agreement to all negotiation rounds was met with rejection because "the army is executing the agenda of the Islamic Movement," asserting that "the Islamic Movement holds the real decision-making power and directs the leadership of the army and armed groups operating in Sudan."
Regarding the humanitarian situation, Dagalo confirmed the continuation of relief operations in El Fasher, the capital of North Darfur state, describing it as "currently the safest city in Darfur and Kordofan." He noted the efforts by the Rapid Support Forces to secure the delivery of aid to affected civilians.
These remarks come amid renewed regional and international calls to revive negotiations between conflict parties in Sudan, as humanitarian concerns escalate due to deteriorating conditions in various regions, particularly in Darfur.
The Sudanese crisis began in April 2023 with clashes between the Sudanese Armed Forces and the Rapid Support Forces, resulting in the displacement of millions and worsening humanitarian and economic conditions. Regional and international mediators continue their efforts to achieve a lasting ceasefire and a comprehensive political resolution.
