For the Seventh Day, Government Forces Foil Houthi Attempt to Capture Mount Naman

Continuing its violent and repeated attacks for the seventh day in a row, the Houthi militia has targeted the northern and western highlands between Al-Hudaydah and Taiz governorates, attempting to achieve a military breakthrough that would pave the way for their control over key mountainous positions dominating surrounding areas near Bab al-Mandeb.

According to field military sources speaking to "Erem News," government forces backed by tribal fighters foiled a new Houthi attack early Saturday targeting the Naman mountain peaks located between the administrative boundaries of Al-Madaribah district and Ra's al-Ayra in northwestern Lahj, and southern Waziyah district in southwestern Taiz.

The sources stated that intense clashes erupted late Friday evening and continued into early Saturday, resulting in "six killed from the Southern Giants brigades and tribal fighters, along with several wounded, against significant casualties among the militia ranks."

They added that the Houthi offensive, which did not alter the control map at Mount Naman, coincided with fierce fighting extending to nearby areas in Al-Manasirah, reaching as far as the southern frontlines of Waziyah district in Taiz.

This comes amid ongoing back-and-forth battles between both sides across the Khabub mountain range in Lahj province, while Yemeni air forces conducted airstrikes on Houthi concentration areas, one of which killed the commander of the "First Special Forces Battalion" and his deputy, along with five of their aides, during the command of field operations toward the dominant highlands.

Over recent days, the Houthi militia has attempted to advance through simultaneous attacks from two parallel axes to seize control of the Khabub mountains and the Naman highlands stretching between Lahj and Taiz, aiming to secure and consolidate their presence in southern Red Sea regions and cut off supply lines of government forces toward coastal areas.
