Houthi Militia Targets Western Coast Areas with Multiple Ballistic Missiles
The Houthi militia launched multiple ballistic missiles at government-controlled areas in Yemen's western coastal region early Thursday, marking a new escalation in the ongoing conflict.
The Houthi militia targeted areas under government control in the western coast overlooking the Red Sea early Thursday morning with around 9 ballistic missiles.
Yemeni "Joint Forces" military sources told "Al-Araby News" that the militia carried out a heavy rocket barrage early today on multiple locations in the western coast.
The sources said the bombardment targeted scattered areas of the city of "Al-Mukha," located in the southwestern part of Taiz Governorate, using 8 ballistic missiles, while a ninth missile struck one of the areas in Al-Khokha District, southern Hodieda Governorate.
The sources noted that the extent of human and material casualties remains unknown at this time, amid the deployment of rescue and relief teams.
Local residents told "Al-Araby News" that the Houthi militias launched these rockets from the Al-Jund camp under their control in the outskirts of the city of Taiz, and from one of their camps in the outskirts of Ibb city.
During the past hours of Wednesday evening, the Houthi militia attacked a popular market in the rural area of Mawza District, western Taiz Governorate, with two ballistic missiles that landed at a private workshop after workers had left, causing significant material damage.
Over recent weeks of unprecedented military escalation since 2022, the Houthi militia has launched a sustained barrage of over 90 ballistic missiles at various locations across the country's western coast, resulting in the deaths and injuries of dozens of civilians and forcing the civilian port of Al-Mukha out of service.
