A recent investigation published by The Washington Post revealed that Tulsi Gabbard, the former intelligence director overseeing the FBI, CIA, and 16 other US security agencies, was under the influence of a group described as "sectarian" during her tenure.

The report specifies that during Gabbard’s term from February 2025 to June 2026, she frequently engaged with an organization named the Science of Identity Foundation (SIF). Some former researchers categorize this group as sectarian, led by Chris Butler.

The investigation, which lasted nearly a year, was based on documents and testimonies, including over 25,000 pages provided by a former witness. It also reviewed internal memos from 2011 to 2017 containing detailed recommendations concerning Gabbard’s speeches, media appearances, political stances, and legislative initiatives linked to her activities.

These documents reportedly show correlations between the content of the memos and Gabbard’s subsequent statements in Congress or on public platforms. In some instances, legislative proposals were introduced shortly after these directives were issued.

The report also highlights the existence of an organization managing Gabbard’s online image, which included the use of fake social media accounts and comment platforms to promote her positions and respond to critics. A former witness indicated participation in these activities before later withdrawing.

Gabbard declined to provide detailed responses to The Washington Post’s inquiries. Associates described the investigation as relying on the account of a "disgruntled former activist" and rejected the allegations, asserting that they also targeted her religious background.

The Science of Identity Foundation also denied the claims presented in the investigation. A close associate of Gabbard’s circle stated that most of the referenced memos were authored by political advisors rather than the group’s leader or religious authorities.

The report concludes by noting that former President Donald Trump prioritized political loyalty in assembling his administration, underlining that Gabbard held one of the most sensitive roles within the US intelligence apparatus in this context.
