Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi arrived in Beijing on Wednesday to meet with his Chinese counterpart Wang Yi, discussing bilateral relations and regional developments.

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi arrived in the Chinese capital Beijing, where he is scheduled to meet his Chinese counterpart Wang Yi on Wednesday, according to the Iranian news agencies Fars and Tasnim.
The Fars news agency reported that Araghchi "arrived in Beijing... at the head of a diplomatic delegation. During this visit, our country's foreign minister will discuss bilateral relations and regional and international developments with his Chinese counterpart." China is considered a major importer of Iranian oil, defying sanctions imposed by the United States, as Washington seeks to choke revenues flowing to Tehran.
This visit comes ahead of an anticipated visit by US President Donald Trump to China on May 14 and 15.
US Secretary of State Marco Rubio had urged China to pressure its Iranian counterpart, saying: "I hope that the Chinese will inform (Araghchi) what should be said to him, which is that what you have been doing in the straits is causing your isolation on a global level."
