A senior Iranian military official characterized the ongoing conflict with the United States as a "long-term war of attrition," emphasizing that Iranian forces are awaiting a direct ground confrontation with US troops.

Major General Mohammad Jafar Asadi, the former deputy head of the Inspection Board at the Central Headquarters of Khatam al-Anbiya (military operations), stated that the confrontation with the United States constitutes a "long-term war of attrition." He asserted that defeating what he termed the "Great Satan" requires patience and time.

Asadi further explained that the war with the United States "will not be resolved quickly," affirming that victory will belong, in his words, "to those who fight dutifully and for the satisfaction of God."

Addressing potential escalation scenarios, the Iranian military official expressed that Iran hopes to place US ground forces in a position that allows for direct field engagement. He added that "displaying American prisoners inside Iran will be a day celebrated by the Iranian people."

He reiterated Iran's wish for US ground troops to find themselves in a situation permitting a ground confrontation, stating that the country awaits "the day it can engage US forces on the ground."
