Israel is closely observing the ongoing exchange of attacks between the United States and Iran, amid perceptions that US President Donald Trump's patience with Tehran is nearing its limit.

Israeli officials have stated that "the response will be extensive and coordinated with Washington if Iran targets us."

While Israel continues to publicly support Washington's efforts to find a diplomatic solution and avoid the expansion of the conflict into a regional war, Israeli assessments indicate that the chances of reaching a permanent agreement with Iran are nearly nonexistent.

The Hebrew newspaper Yedioth Ahronoth quoted political sources as saying that Iran's difficulty in adhering to the terms of the interim memorandum of understanding reflects greater challenges to any long-term agreement.

The newspaper noted that political circles in Israel view the future of negotiations as fundamentally dependent on decisions made in Tehran and the political leadership's ability to control the Revolutionary Guard.

Israel is preparing for several escalation scenarios, including the possibility that the confrontation between Washington and Tehran could extend to its territory.

So far, the United States has requested that Israel remain out of the conflict, but Tel Aviv does not rule out that Washington might later seek its participation. There is close coordination between the Israeli military and the US Central Command, with continuous exchanges of updates on developments.

The Israeli military is working to enhance its defensive and offensive readiness, including boosting air defense capabilities, maintaining operational preparedness, and updating plans and target databases within Iran.

The security establishment is also preparing for the possibility that Tehran might attempt to target Israel directly or respond to developments in the Lebanese arena. In such a case, Israel is ready for a broad response, with any major move to be coordinated with the US administration.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu spoke with President Trump on Thursday evening, but no date has been set for an upcoming meeting, despite a previous announcement that they had agreed to meet soon.

The delay in setting a date is believed to be linked to escalating tensions between Washington and Tehran, the pressure on the US administration, and questions regarding the appropriateness of Netanyahu's visit to Washington at this time.

On the military front, the US Central Command (CENTCOM) announced on Sunday that it had completed the third round of strikes against Iran during this week, holding Iranian forces responsible for attacking another commercial vessel in the Strait of Hormuz.

In a statement posted on the X platform, it was explained that US forces targeted approximately 140 military sites using precision munitions launched by land- and sea-based fighter aircraft, drones, and warships.

The strikes targeted missile sites, drone facilities, naval capabilities, ammunition storage facilities, communication networks, and coastal surveillance sites.
