Macron and Trump Agree on Easing Energy Market Tensions and Working for Peace in Ukraine

French President Emmanuel Macron announced that he had agreed with his American counterpart, Donald Trump, to work toward easing tensions in energy markets by protecting critical infrastructure in the Middle East and ensuring navigation through the Strait of Hormuz.

Following their meeting in New York on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly sessions, Macron said both sides also agreed to align their efforts to achieve a temporary halt to attacks targeting energy infrastructure and civilian facilities in Ukraine.

Macron emphasized the need to launch serious negotiations on peace terms between Russia and Ukraine as soon as possible.

Macron described his discussions with Trump regarding the conflicts in Ukraine and the Red Sea as positive, noting that the conversation addressed the situation in the Red Sea due to its significance and impact on global prices, before moving on to an extensive discussion about the war between Russia and Ukraine.
