French President Emmanuel Macron was spotted jogging through Alexandria's streets in sportswear, delighting locals during his official visit to Egypt.
French President Emmanuel Macron took an early-morning run through the streets of Alexandria on Saturday, dressed in traditional athletic gear and drawing surprise and delight from residents. Social media users circulated photos and videos of Macron jogging along Khaled Ibn al-Walid Street and the Alexandria Corniche, appearing relaxed and engaged with the coastal city's atmosphere.
Several citizens expressed joy at the human moment, viewing it as a sign of Macron's comfort and sense of security in Egypt. "Imagine you're heading to work in Alexandria and you find the French president running next to you," one user posted alongside a video of the jog.
The morning run took place during Macron's official visit to Egypt, which began on Saturday with his participation alongside President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi in the inauguration of the new campus of Senghor University, a Francophone university in Borg El Arab west of Alexandria. The institution is an international educational body aimed at supporting development in Africa and stands as a prominent example of cultural and educational cooperation between Egypt and France.
The visit also included a joint evening tour by el-Sisi and Macron along the Alexandria Corniche and the historic Qaitbay Citadel on Friday, in a celebratory atmosphere that reflected the strength of bilateral relations.
