A fire broke out at an air base in Gloucestershire, which is currently used by the US Air Force in the war against Iran; this required several emergency services teams to respond to the fire in the early hours of Sunday morning.
Photos from the scene showed part of the roof of one of the buildings had collapsed, and no injuries were reported. No Royal Air Force aircraft were damaged, while the extent of damage to US Air Force assets remains unknown.
A spokesperson for the Gloucestershire Fire and Rescue Service said: "We are responding to a fire in a commercial building in the Fairford area. Residents are advised to keep doors and windows closed due to smoke from the fire."
The government had allowed the US Air Force to use the military base near the Wiltshire border after the outbreak of war in the Middle East.
The facility had been used to deploy American bombers for "defensive" operations against Iran.
While some residents welcomed the military presence, the base saw protests attended by around 200 people on Saturday, carrying banners reading "No to war on Iran," "America out of British bases," and "Stop Trump's deadly wars."
The US Air Force did not comment on the fire.
