The UK-based Maritime Trade Operations (MTO) issued a report in the early hours of Thursday confirming that an oil tanker sustained a strike from an unidentified projectile while transiting the Strait of Hormuz.
The impact ignited a fire aboard the vessel, according to the MTO, which stated the blaze was subsequently contained and extinguished.
In a brief official statement posted on its X account, the MTO confirmed the safety of the entire crew and noted no environmental damage had been reported.
