Russian President Vladimir Putin expressed readiness to assist in eliminating Iran's enriched uranium stockpile, proposing a solution similar to the 2015 arrangement.

Russian President Vladimir Putin declared his country's willingness to support any solution aimed at easing tensions surrounding Iran, describing the relationship between Russia and Iran as one of trust.
During a meeting with global news agencies at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum, Putin stated, "We have good relations, relations of trust with Iran. It is a friendly country."
Putin conveyed Russia's preparedness to assist in the disposal of Iran's enriched uranium stockpile, suggesting a resolution akin to the one implemented in 2015, according to the Russian agency RT.
The Russian president noted that Iran's diluted uranium could be utilized for peaceful nuclear programs under the supervision of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).
Recalling the successful 2015 experience, Putin highlighted Russia's central role in transferring enriched uranium from Iran to Russian territory, which laid the foundation for the nuclear agreement and contributed to tension reduction at that time. He emphasized that these solutions are familiar to both the U.S. and Iranian administrations.
He said, "In 2015, Russia played a positive role. At that time, we removed enriched uranium from Iran to the territory of the Russian Federation. This formed the basis of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA). In other words, the crisis was resolved."
Putin pointed out that transferring uranium to Russia places it under the control of the IAEA, subjecting it to international oversight, including by the United States and Israel.
He added, "Because everything is under their control. Well, under the control of the IAEA, but they all participate in the work of the IAEA. Everyone trusts the IAEA."
At the same time, Putin stressed that "Russia does not want to impose its services, but it is ready to offer this possibility if all parties desire it to resolve the crisis," indicating that Moscow follows a principle of consultation and coordination with international partners.
Putin also remarked that the war on Iran has diverted Washington's attention away from Ukraine.
