Report: Republican Efforts in the Senate to Issue Authorization to Strike Iran
A US news website reported that a group of Republican members in the Senate is working to issue an authorization for the use of force against Iran.

A US news website said that a group of Republican members in the Senate is working to issue an authorization for the use of force against Iran.
The website "semafor" confirmed that, "according to several people familiar with the matter, a small group of Republican senators is still working behind the scenes to issue an authorization for the use of military force against Iran, so that they can move forward if President Donald Trump resumes launching strikes," as it put it.
The website mentioned that "the Republicans expect to receive a new notification if hostilities resume, after Trump stated on Friday that the first phase of the conflict has ended."
The War Powers Act allows for "urgent" consideration of a military authorization if it is submitted within the first thirty days of a subsequent sixty-day period of hostilities, meaning that the authorization will be brought to a quick vote in the Senate.
